Best Time for Short Everest Trekking 

SUMMER

During summer (June, July and August) the minimum temperature along the highest point of the trek is around 0°c and it is one of the most favorable seasons to trek to EBC but as the monsoon coincides with summer in Nepal you must carry appropriate gears for a pleasant experience. 

Winter

During winter (December, January and February) the EBC region receives minimum amount of rainfall and heavy snowfall. This season offers most scenic views of the snowcapped mountains. Heath checkup

Equipment:

Permits

The new local entry permit has completely replaced the old trek permit in Khumbu. However, one needs to take TIMS(Trekkers Management Systems) card if they opt for trekking from Jiri to Everest base Camp.

The following are the permits that one needs to take before starting the trek:

Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit:

After the replacement of TIMS, ar the local government of Khumbu directly collect NPR 2000(USD $20) per person, from the foreigners. These permits are available from Lukla, and if the traveler is trekking from Jiri or Salleri (Phaplu) to Everest base camp, the permit can be obtained from Monjo. The fee of the permit should be deposited at Lukla Check post.

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit:

This permit can be obtained from either Kathmandu or Nepal Tourism Board office or in Monjo at Park Entrance Gate. The permit fee for foreigners is 3,000 NPR plus 13%  VAT, which becomes 3,390 NPR (approximately US $34 in total). The permit fee for SAARC countries is NPR 1,500 per person.

Additional Permit for Jiri to Everest  Base Camp Trek:

If one is following the classic route from Jiri to Everest Base Camp, one needs to take special permit for Gaurishankar Conservation Area, as this falls in that region. It will cost 3,000 NPR, and this permit can be organized by independent trekker or can be issued from Tourism Board Kathmandu. One can get the permit from Kathmandu.

Two photos for Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project entry permit and one also needs to fill up a short form to obtain the permit.

Potter and guide.

Without any guide and potter you cannot complete your Everest base camp trek as it reaches 5545m high altitude. At high altitude you need guide and potter. In Nepal. Everest trekking region is known as difficult trekking region.  If you want to do trekking yourself without having any guide or potter there will be risk for you. In the high altitude, nobody knows about high health. In the case of sickness from any disease, there will be nobody no care you. So, guide and potter is a service for your safety. We will provide you well trained and experienced guide and potter. The normal rate of Everest base camp trek guide and potter is USD$ 25per day and USD$20 per day.

Accommodation and Food.

Accommodation and food cost depend on what kind of food you eat and the place you choose to stay. For accommodations, the cost normally starts from USD 10. Our accommodation will be in 3 star hotel in Kathmandu and will be staying in tea houses and lodges during the trek as per availability. All accommodations are on twin share basis. If you want single supplement it will cost an additional charge. Actual adventure team will manage rooms with attached washrooms, except in some of the tea houses having shared washrooms and toilet facilities.  However single rooms are provided only as per the availability because it may not be available at the higher elevations.

Meals

All meals will be provided during our 10 days trek including welcome and farewell dinners in Kathmandu. The 7 day Everest View Trek is an itinerary designed for trekkers having good health and average physical fitness. It is a moderate trek. During winter the Everest region gets extremely cold. Winter (Dec- Feb) is not favorable for trekking in Everest region but can be an amazing experience for challenge seekers. The days are warmer and nights are colder during winter. Temperature can decrease up to -20°c to -30 °c during nights. The temperature can drop up to -60°c during winter in Everest region. 

Passport and Visa 

You need a VISA to enter Nepal. However, the arrival visa is available at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu’s where you can simply get “On Arrival Visa” and you must enter Nepal within six months from the visa issued date. Your total stay is counted starting from the day you enter Nepal. Indian citizens don’t need a VISA to enter Nepal but a valid identity card is necessary. 

You will be charged $40 USD as visa application fees for 30 days tourist visa to the forefingers except for Chinese and India. For those tourists who have Indian and Chinese passports then you do not need a VISA.

We highly recommend trekkers to have the travel insurance. But its not that compulsory.

  • Day 1 – Kathmandu Arrival

On Day 1, you will arrive at Kathmandu and you will be preparing yourself for your trekking adventure. You will be introduced with your trekking guide who will explain about your entire trekking journey in brief. Your guide will check whether you have all the required trekking equipment or not and if needed, will ask you to purchase any missing equipment.

  • Day 2 – Phakding trekking (2652 meters)

After having your breakfast, your journey will start from Tribhuvan International Airport. From there you will be heading towards Lukla by flight. After flying for about 35 minutes, you will land at Lukla airport where you will be received by our team. Then your Phakding trekking for an altitude of 2652 meters from the ground level begins. The 3.5 hours long trekking adventure will drive you through the green mountain ranges and small villages. As arranged by our team, you will be staying at tea house at night.

  • Day 3 – Namche Bazaar trekking (3440 meters)

On Day-3, you will be trekking to a height of 3440 meters to reach your next trekking spot – Namche Bazaar where you will see green mountains and famous  Dudh Koshi River.For lunch, you will be stopping at Monjo. The route that leads you from Monjo to Namche is flanked by thick green forest cover.   • Day 10 – Gorakshep-Everest Base Camp-Gorakshep Trekking (5170+5364 meters)

On day 10, you will be entirely trekking through the glacier route with a moderate level of difficulty.As you start trekking, you will now be able to get glimpses of Mount Everest. However, you cannot see it entirely from the Base Camp. Whereas, the Khumbu icefall is evidently visible. This portion of your trekking adventure is a roller coaster one where you will be trespassing several glaciers and vast mountain ranges.So, on day 10, you can expect a total trek of 5 to 7 hours a long duration before retiring for the day at Gorak Shep camping site.

  • Day 11 – Kala Pattar Trekking (5645 meters) and Pheriche Descending (4940 meters)

This day will be your most thrilling and challenging part of your entire trekking expedition. You will be hiking to Kala Patthar which won’t be easy.  In fact, this is the only spot from where you can adore all the high peaks spread across the hilly regions of the Himalayan Ranges. Within a span of 2.5 to 3 hours, you will be able to cover the entire trekking distance between Gorak Shep to Kala Pattar. Once you are done reaching Kala Patthar, the next portion of your trekking expedition will be descending down the trail, thereby easing your trekking experience. With the next 3 hours of dedicated trekking, you will gain a new height of 4940 meters to reach Lobuche. If every single trekker within your group agrees, we can even plan a small trek to the Pheriche too.

  • Day 12 – Namche Bazaar Trekking

Your day 12 trekking will be a moderate one. After reaching Phungi Thanga and before Tengboche, we will have to hike a bit.

  • Day 13 – Lukla Trekking (2800 meters)

Day 13 is the last day of your Kumbhu trekking expedition. Although not a tough one, your Lukla trekking will seem to be a moderately severe trekking experience.

  • Day 14 – Kathmandu Trekking

Itinerary for Everest base camp helicopter in detail

5:30 – 6:30 AM: Hotel pick up and drop to the domestic terminal of International Airport, Kathmandu.

 Your Everest base camp helicopter tour starts early in the morning from the domestic terminal of the Tribhuvan International airport,Kathmandu. Our representative will pick you from your hotel and transfer to the domestic terminal of the airport.

6:30 – 7:00 AM: Preparation and processing to take your scheduled helicopter flight to EBC with a landing.

Your all check in process will be assisted by our guide. After  completing all the airport’s process, you will get into the helicopter and finally be ready to fly to Lukla.

7:00 – 8:00 AM: Fly to Lukla (2,845 meters)

This trip takes about 45 minutes. As your flight begins, you will see beautiful landscapes and flying through Dolakha village you will reach Jiri village. After 45 minutes of flight, you will land at Lukla airport with magnificant views of chains of himalayas that includes Langtang Lirung (7,234m), Ganesh (7,429m), Gauri Shankar (7,134m), Ganesh (7,429m), Shishapangma (8,013m), Gyachung Kang (7,952m), Pumori (7,161m), Nuptse (7,855m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Ama Dablam (6,812m).

8: 00 – 8:15 AM: Flight Refueling at Lukla Airport

You will see many sherpa guides and porters waiting for their clients at Lukla airport. You will be able to witness the sherpa settlements, their lifestyle and culture. For refueling the flight ,it might take upto 15 minutes.

8:15 – 8:30 AM: Fly to Kala Patthar (5,550 meters)  

You will fly to Kala Patthar after refueling the flight. After travelling half way to Kala Patthar,  you will be able to witness some mountains like Everest, Pumori and Lhotse.

8:30 – 8:45 AM: Land and Explore around Kala Patthar (5,550 meters)  

After thrilling and exciting heli ride, you will land at Kala Patthar for about 15 minutes.  There, you will witness the beautiful landscape of Khumbu region  along with glaciers and mighty peaks of the Khumbu region.

8:45 – 9:00 AM: Fly to Syangboche (Everest View Hotel) (3,950 meters)

After enjoying mesmerizing and heavenly moment at Kala Patthar, you will fly to the world’s highest situated hotel, Everest View Hotel for a delicious and hearty breakfast. The flight offers breathtaking views of Khumbu glaciers and mountain ranges.

9:00 – 9:30 AM: Breakfast Time at Everest View Hotel  

You will have a hearty breakfast at the world’s highest situated hotel along with beautiful view of Mount Everest from every corner. You will be able to get mesmerizing views of snow capped peaks.

9:30 – 10:00 AM: Fly to Lukla and Refuel

You will fly back to Lukla after having excellent breakfast at Everest View Hotel. You will see beautiful mountains from close range. You will again land at Lukla for 15 minutes and when the flight gets refuled the flight will take off for Kathmandu.

10:00 – 11:00 AM: Fly back to Kathmandu

During this trip, you will witness the full range of Everest landscapes and as youn look down you will see Namche bazar, Lukla and Phakding. After this exciting and thrilling flight you will land at Kathmandu and you will be taken back to your hotel comfortabely.
